griffey swing
Believe it or not, Ken Griffey Jr. is still playing ball and is currently in his 20th Major League Baseball season.  Go look at one of his baseball cards to confirm that ludicrous statement. It doesn't seem like 20 years does it?  He's now 38 years old and has a few more wrinkles in his smile than back in '89, but he still has that same beautiful swing. Griffey could be in a wheelchair and still use that perfect swing. The swing millions of kids triumphantly failed at emulating. The same swing that will launch 600-plus home runs off of 400-plus different pitchers in his career.

Donating one pint of blood can save up to three lives and Irene Cretella, administrative assistant to Dean of Students Ken Bedini has been the driving force in dedicating time to saving the lives of thousands through her blood drive efforts at Eastern Connecticut State University. Cretella has been organizing Red Cross blood drives at Eastern since 1995, and in the most recent February drive over 130 pints of blood were donated. But due to changes in the Eastern community service system and being in the midst of season, February was a difficult time for donors.

Released a year after his death, this two-disc compilation of in-progress songs from Jeff Buckley shows that he still had so much promise and potential to deliver on, in his post-Grace era.   Buckley seemed to be reacting to the instant success of Grace by crafting his music on Sketches in a more Indie vein.  Despite the rough production some of the tracks have on here, many sound quite complete.

When I think about the reason for donating blood there is a line from a Bazh Luhrman song that comes to mind, "The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4 pm on some idle Tuesday."  What does this have anything to do with donating blood?
