Dragonball Evolution Review
Ugh… Let’s get one thing straight before we talk about this. Anybody who walks into a local McDonalds expecting horde cuisine is in for a very unpleasant turn of events. The same thing goes here. So that being said, Yes, “Dragonball Evolution” is bad in every sense of the word. We all had a feeling this would happen. The question, however, was how much was it going to suck?
Full StoryCharlie Bartlett Review
Charlie Bartlett, performed by Anton Yelchin (Alpha Dog) was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Hyper-intelligent and musically gifted, his bedroom wall is decorated with countless framed letters from all the private high schools that have expelled him. His adoring but almost permanently medicated mother finds herself at a bit of a loss, especially since Charlie’s Dad is not around.
Full StoryLakeview Restaurant Review
Looks can be deceiving, and that was true upon entering The Lakeview Restaurant in Coventry. Located on Coventry Lake, the restaurant owned by Leo Papa, is a lovely summer spot for someone looking to relax on a deck, overlooking the water. The outside looks like a typical biker bar but the inside is decorated nicely with a proper sit down restaurant feel.
Full StoryAll-American Rejects Review
They’re well-known, but they aren’t everyone’s favorite. They’ve got a style all their own, but a voice that could be mixed up with someone else’s. They are The All-American Rejects, and although some may argue that it isn’t very good music, their smash hit singles on the charts like to argue otherwise.
Full StoryThe Norwich Nine Review
The Norwich Nine had a jam packed house last night in the student center theatre with people lined up from wall to wall to see the premiere of this new show about civil war soldiers from Norwich, CT who are buried in Yantic Cemetery. I was really surprised when I saw people of all ages sitting in the rows; from the young to the elderly the show was appropriate for all ages.
Full StoryBook Review: "Bad Monkeys"
Matt Ruff’s book, “Bad Monkeys”, was extremely well written and of a genre all its own. Part thriller, part comedy, part outlandish concoction, I literally could not put it down.
Full StoryVanna: A New Hope
In the increasingly tasteless scene that has begun to engulf bands of the hardcore and metal genres, Vanna’s sophomore full-length, A New Hope, has provided just that; hope. Where today’s typical, generic “metalcore” band (if you will), follows the current trendy format as simply defined by breakdowns, singing choruses, and screaming verses; A New Hope does remains loyal to these aspects but develWalker, just to name a couple.
Full Story"Street Fighter 4" Review
One of the few certainties in life is that we were all children at one point, and what’s more, many of us played “Street Fighter 2” during that time. Childhood gave us all the blessing of ignorance because we knew nothing about the world outside. That’s part of the reason why I look back on the 90’s with a fond smile. I say partly because the other reason is that SF2 was such a damn good game. Released in 1991, it was the first game to ever set an example for the way a fighting game should be played.
Full Story"Watchmen" Review
The world looked up and shouted “Save us!” and they delivered “The Watchmen.” The day of the caped crusader reigns again in the latest superhero film. “The Watchmen” was based originally off the graphic novel, written by Alan Moore and David Gibbons in the 1980’s. The screenplay for the film was very closely written in accordance with the novel.
Full StoryA Haunting in the Theaters
Slamming doors, terrifying apparitions and one horrific story. On Friday, March 27, the film “The Haunting in Connecticut” opened in theaters. Loosely based around a television documentary, “A Haunting in Connecticut,” released in 2002, the film was a roller-coaster ride for all those who dared to watch it.
